Youth Summer Camps

ESA Will Conduct 3 Summer Camps for Youth 10 to 17 Years Old in 2023
General:
ESA teaches small boat sailing at Indian Mound Park in Englewood, FL
Learning to sail can develop confidence, character and community among kids. They will be taught the basics of sailing and have fun with other kids as they team with a partner, each fulfilling their role in the sailing experience.
For some kids, learning to sail is fun and for some kids it becomes their passion.
Specifics:

There are three 2021 youth summer camps for ages 10-17
The cost is $150 per child (financial aid is available if needed)
The camps are Monday through Friday starting at 9 AM, ending at 3 PM
2023 Summer Camp Schedule

Summer Camp I: June 12th through June 167th
Summer Camp II: June 26th through June 30th
Summer Camp III: July 10th through July 14th
Qualifications:
Youth ages 10 to 17
The student must be comfortable in the water and able to swim.
The student must be dropped off and picked up each day by a parent or guardian and signed in and out.

The process:
The camp starts with a basic swim check where each student demonstrates their ability to swim and climb aboard a boat.
For the first couple of days, two students are teamed with a coach who is an experienced sailor and who has completed our coaching clinic.
Note: The two students and one coach model may change during the coronavirus pandemic in order to maintain social distancing.

By the end of the week, kids are usually able to sail by themselves.
There is a family picnic on the Friday, after which students are invited to take family members sailing.

Note:“We base the number of slots in our programs (and whether or not we offer a program at all) based in part on our ability to enact CDC-recommended mitigation measures for COVID-19. If those recommendations change we reserve the right to limit participation or cancel programs altogether. We will prioritize slots on a first-come, first-served basis.”
