Parent Agreement

What you can expect from us
Like everything else in life, moving into a new experience can be both exciting while, at the same time, bring up a number of questions and concerns. The purpose of this section is to outline the agreement we would like to make with you, the parent or guardian of our student(s).

We will do our best to:
  • Give your child(ren) a safe, fun and learning experience sailing on Lemon Bay
  • Keep you informed regarding our programs
  • Let you know when we need to alter, cancel or stop an event because of weather or other circumstances (red tide, pandemic, etc.)
  • Communicate any special needs
What we would like from you
In order to deliver on the promise of building confidence, character and community through sailing, this is what we need from you as a parent or guardian.

We ask you to:
  • Bring your child to the check-in area and make sure we have a contact number for the day
  • Let us know if your child is unable to attend on any given day. You can call or text to:
  • Drop off and pick-up your child at the scheduled time
  • Arrange to pick-up your child in the event of inclement weather and cancellation
  • Let us know if your child will not be attending on a specific day or if they may be coming late or leaving early
  • Ask your child how their experience went after each day and let us know any special issues that need to be addressed
Parental Engagement
During our programs, we will offer several opportunities to experience you child's sailing skills, both directly (on the sailboat) and being able to observe first hand (from one of our safety boats).

Safety Boat Opportunity

During the Fall and Spring Programs, parents/guardians who register to ride on one of our safety boats can see first-hand how their kid(s) are doing with their sailing skills.

If you'd like to schedule a safety boat ride, click here.

Safety Boat Registration

At the end of each program, you and other family members and friends will have the opportunity to sail with your students.

During the Fall and Spring Programs, you will have a sign-in opportunity to ride on one of our safety boats for a specific Saturday during the program. We will announce this at the beginning of the program and give you a link to sign-up for a specific day. This is on a first come, first served basis.

We also invite you to hang around on the beach where you can observe our programs in action.

Finally, many of our parents become volunteers helping us out in many ways from Board presence to active sailing day volunteering. Please see the Volunteer Page for the opportunities.
