ESA offers a coastal cruising program to both youth and adults. We start out on our 26' Grampian "Daydreamin'" (generously donated by Steve and Sue Rosen), where we learn inland and coastal navigation, keelboat handling, boat systems maintenance, anchoring, docking, and much more. We then hold a three-day, two-night graduation cruise on a chartered boat. Students plan the itinerary, provision for the trip, and run the boat under the supervision of trained and certified instructors.
Youth coastal cruising is held 9 AM to 3 PM on eight Saturdays in the spring. Students will not be able to participate in sailing at Indian Mound Park.
Adult coastal cruising is held in the fall. Students and instructors work out the schedule.
Youth students must have graduated from our beginning and intermediate sailing programs, have been an active coach for at least one summer camp, and be 12 or older.
Adult students must be ESA members and already have basic sailing skills. Active volunteers get preference.
