Englewood Sailing Association has been teaching small boat sailing on Lemon Bay since 2002. We are an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to building confidence, character, and community through sailing. Every year over 150 people from Sarasota and Charlotte Counties and beyond learn to sail with us.

10 AM to 1 PM. December 13 and 20. Look for an email from Pat Beffel each month recruiting volunteers to skipper and crew a safety boat for each session. On Feb 28, adult sailing will start at 11AM due to safety boat training. Please renew your adult sailing membership for 2026. At only $200 per year per family, you can sail on Wednesdays and two Saturdays per month. Click HERE to register for 2026.

Sixteen hours of sailing instruction over 4 days for adults aged 18 to 99+ who have never sailed before, or would like to refresh their sailing skills. $300 10 AM to 2 PM
Safety Boat Training Feb 28 at 9 AM
Please attend to renew your safety boat skills or learn how to skipper a safety boat. Every time we have sailors on the water we have at least one safety boat operating with a skipper and a crew member. Learn how to safely position the boat for coaching, how to rescue a capsize and how to tow a boat in distress. ESA is in need of volunteers to tow boats to the launch. If you would like to learn how to tow a safety boat one mile from McCall Ave to the launch, meet at 8 AM at 101 S. McCall Ave.

We're a proud partner of US Sailing, the official governing body for small-boat sailing. We have US Sailing-certified instructors, and our programs follow US Sailing's "Learn Sailing Right" curriculum. Graduates of our fall and spring beginning sailing program can earn certification through US Sailing's "Little Red Book" program.
